Delas Heras is the pen name of Stephen De Las Heras, a New York–based novelist, photographer, and former book editor. He is the author of three works of fiction: The Intergalactic Interloper, Foxman and the Cat Burglar, and The Nine Lives of Bianca Moon. His writing combines humor, imagination, and literary craft—stories where aliens hide in walk-ups, masked heroes fall in love, and animals solve crimes.

Born in Los Angeles, Delas Heras spent his childhood in London and Madrid before returning to the United States as a teenager. He holds dual U.S.–Spanish citizenship and is bilingual in English and Spanish. A graduate of Drew University (Political Science, English minor) and NYU (Master’s in Education), he began his career in publishing, rising from intern to editor at Tor/Forge Books.

After leaving publishing to pursue creative projects, he worked as a freelance dance photographer and currently serves as a security guard at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art—an unlikely but inspiring perch for a storyteller who thrives on human observation. During the pandemic, he turned his attention back to fiction, completing his debut novel and two more in quick succession.

He lives in Manhattan with his family and an opinionated tuxedo cat.
