Delas Heras is the pen name of Stephen De Las Heras, a New York–based novelist, photographer, and former book editor. He is the author of three works of fiction: The Intergalactic Interloper, Foxman and the Cat Burglar, and The Nine Lives of Bianca Moon. His writing combines humor, imagination, and literary craft—stories where aliens hide in walk-ups, masked heroes fall in love, and animals solve crimes.
 

Born in Los Angeles, Delas Heras spent his childhood in London and Madrid before returning to the United States as a teenager. He holds dual U.S.–Spanish citizenship and is bilingual in English and Spanish. A graduate of Drew University (Political Science, English minor) and NYU (Master’s in Education), he began his career in publishing, rising from intern to editor at Tor/Forge Books.
 

After leaving publishing to pursue creative projects, he worked as a freelance dance photographer. Then, during the pandemic, he turned his attention back to fiction, completing his debut novel and two more in quick succession.

This was followed by a few years working as a security guard at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art—an unlikely but inspiring perch for a storyteller who thrives on human observation.
 

He now writes full time, and lives in Manhattan with his family and an opinionated tuxedo cat.
